Summary:
According to the authors, the second language learners can expect the methodology of learning; however, they have a vital perspective of what they may learn. The learners also can measure their abilities to come up with the target language proficiency as soon as possible. Furthermore, each learner has a specific goal to achieve by learning the second language. For example, some learners do need to learn that language because they intend to work in the target society regardless of the language's difficulty. Moreover, some of the learners find it is useful to follow a particular avenues to optimize the second language. They may need it to cope with the new trends as well. Nowadays, no doubt the people can communicate with each other using English regardless of where they are. Although the second language learners could live in a native society to endeavor their goals easily, it costs them much. They can not study as a full-time student while it is mandatory to get a sufficient monetary tuition to pay for whether university or institution where they get their learning.

Reaction:

I think the learners could expect (what, how) they will learn regardless of their goals of such learning. Thus, they may prepare themselves in advance to get what they should learn. Each individual has his own reasons to learn a second language; however, it is easy to predict and expect what you will learn to be good at the target language. According to the methodology of the learning, I think it is hard even to guess which method the second language will follow. In addition, I think they did not mention the age of the learners, which is a very important feature. Also, the authors claimed that the second language learner may follow many effective ways to learn the language but they did not consider his background about the target language. Apparently, this article relies on strong statistic and research; however, in my point of view I guess we should gather all the features of the target learners and then classify them into categories to know what parts we should consider and which parts we should neglect.
